WorkSafeBC Part 18 requires traffic-control equipment, arrangements, and procedures to meet the Traffic Management Manual to the extent practicable unless the Act or Regulation specifies otherwise.

Equipment categories a plan may specify

• Advance-warning, regulatory, and temporary condition signs.
• Cones, drums, delineators, barriers, and other channelizing devices.
• TCP paddles and Traffic Control Person Ahead signs.

The exact selection, spacing, placement, and removal sequence come from the plan and applicable standard. Damaged, dirty, unstable, obscured, or incorrectly placed equipment can create a hazard even when the device type is correct.

Inspection and removal

The designated supervisor must ensure required devices are in place before work starts, inspect the work zone at intervals appropriate to the risks, and remove or cover devices when they are no longer required. Signs that describe an inactive condition should not remain exposed and confuse road users.
